Shawn Michaels is retired and has not wrestled in a long time. A huge WWE star wanted to face him in one last match, but was told he wioll never wrestle again.

AJ Styles wanted to face Shawn Michaels in a match

AJ Styles spoke with the Undertaker on an episode of Six Feet Under. There he talked about how he wanted to wrestle Michaels and how it never ended up happening. He said he had wanted to wrestle The Undertaker for a long time as well.

The Undertaker mentioned how he compared Styles to Shawn Michaels and thought of him as the HBK of this generation. He admitted that this was a dream match in his head, though it never came to pass.

“What a dream match that would have been.”

Styles said he had always been jealous of those in WWE who had the opportunity to wrestle The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H throughout their careers, and that he had never received that same opportunity. He approached people backstage and asked whether he could wrestle Michaels in a last-ever match. He was told that he would never wrestle again. He then asked if anyone had asked HBK and never received an answer.

“I was very jealous of some of the guys who were in WWE that had the opportunity to wrestle [Undertaker] and Shawn Michaels and Triple H, and I was jealous. So I was like, ‘Can I wrestle Shawn?’ They go, ‘He’s not going to wrestle.’ I said, ‘Can I ask him? Did anyone ask him?'”

He did go on to ask the same about the Undertaker and received a proper answer.

AJ Styles is now bringing an end to his own career

AJ Styles may not have been able to wrestle Michaels, but now, he is bringing an end to his own career.

The star has said that he will retire in 2026.

It remains to be seen who the WWE star wrestles in his last-ever match, but as he brings a close to his career, there are quite a few dream matches that fans may hope for.
